Cultural Industries

The Government of Alberta recognizes the Cultural Industries (screen-based media production, book and magazine publishing, and sound recordings) as an essential part of the Albertan quality of life.

The Alberta Media Fund (AMF) provides support to organizations and individuals involved in the Cultural Industries through a variety of grants.

Alberta Production Grant

Production funding is provided through the Alberta Production Grant, a competitive and flexible incentive in the form of a grant against all eligible production expenses incurred in Alberta. Alberta will contribute up to 30 per cent of all eligible Alberta expenses up to $5 million per project.

Project Script Development Grant

The Project/Script grant supports Albertan writers, directors and producers by providing financial assistance towards the creation of quality marketable and commercial production-ready projects and/or scripts. This grant is available for original projects with a broadcast length of 30 minutes or more. Applications must involve participation of a writer and producer. The producer must be an Albertan resident.
