Every day, non-profit and charitable organizations in Alberta help to make a positive difference for so many people. Whether it is through after-school care, recreation
programs or assistance for new immigrants, these organizations are at the heart of healthy and strong communities. The government of Alberta has several grant programs and
foundations that assist these groups in their efforts.
The Government of Alberta recognizes the arts and culture sector as an essential part of Albertan's quality of life. Support for the arts sector is provided through the
Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA). The AFA funds, encourages, and supports the development of arts in Alberta.
Nonprofit organizations have access to a number of grants to support project and operating costs through the Community
Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP) and the Community Initiatives Program (CIP).
The Government of Alberta recognizes the Cultural Industries(screen-based media production, book and magazine publishing, and sound recordings) as essential contributors
to the Albertan quality of life.
Support for these important industries is provided through the Alberta Media Fund (AMF).
Alberta Culture and Tourism provides funding to communities, organizations, and individuals to conserve and celebrate our heritage.

Charitable Tax Credit
Alberta has one of the highest charitable tax credits in Canada. For every dollar you donate over $200 total, you can receive a non-refundable tax credit of 50%.
Flood Recovery Funding
Special flood recovery funding is available to nonprofit/voluntary sector organizations impacted by the 2013 floods.
The funding is evenly split between the Community Facility Enhancement
Program (CFEP) and the Community Initiatives Program (CIP) and will be
delivered using existing CIP and CFEP guidelines, application forms and accountability requirements. Eligibility of organizations will also be determined using existing CFEP
and CIP criteria. CIP applications will be accepted for both the Project-Based and the Operating streams.

Support for Alberta’s athletes, coaches and officials, sport events is provided through the Alberta Sport Connection who provide a number of grants related to sport, recreation and active living.
