ANVSI Collaboration Committee

The Nonprofit Voluntary Sector (NPVS) and Government of Alberta (GOA) have committed in the Framework for Collaboration to a collaborative partnership that will work towards mutually acceptable outcomes that impact both sectors. The Minister of Culture and Community Services, the government's lead department, has appointed the Collaboration Committee to implement the Framework for Collaboration. It involves a balanced representation of the NPVS and the GOA plus a member from each of academia and funders/foundations.

The Committee is responsible to provide the leadership, accountability and oversight in the development of collaborative mechanisms to achieve the outcomes mutually agreed to by the NPVS and the GOA. These broad outcomes include creating solutions for commonly shared issues, building the capacity of both sectors to participate in the partnership as well as capacity to better serve Albertans and engaging both sectors in an integrated policy dialogue.

In order to function collaboratively the Collaboration Committee has Co-Chairs from each of the GOA and NPVS. It utilizes consensus based decision making processes to guide its discussions and ultimately reach its mutually agreed upon outcomes. NPVS members work together through their "NPVS Table". The provincial government focuses on NPVS issues at many levels, including regular meetings of Ministers and Deputy Ministers. These two sectors are engaged in a collaborative dialogue at the Collaboration Committee's joint table.
