Alberta’s arts scene features a talented and diverse music community well-versed in numerous disciplines bringing entertainment to Albertans across the province.

Alberta musicians can apply through the music project grant stream available through the Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA). The music grant can be used for:

  • Art Production: demo and commercial recording, concerts, compositions and commissions;
  • Training/Career Development: full-time study, course, workshops. master classes, summer programs or mentorship opportunities;
  • Marketing: promote your CD, create a website or promo package, showcase your band, tours, or music videos; and/or
  • Research; and/or

Sound Recording Companies

Alberta sound recording organizations may apply through the Cultural Industry Grant Program of the Alberta Multimedia Development Fund. This program supports sound recording labels by assisting with operating expenses for the development and release of new recordings and with music publishing copyrights.

The Cultural Industry Operational Grant is not intended for individual artists seeking to finance the recording of their work; it is intended to support incorporated Alberta sound recording companies that have been in business for at least two years by providing funding to assist operational costs.
