Thank you for visiting the Arts Days Community Events page. Below is a listing of Arts Days events that we're currently aware of. We'd love to hear about your Arts Days plans and will help promote your event through this site!

We're currently working on developing an events submission form for this page, which we're anticipating will be ready by June 8. If, however, you'd like to tell us about your event now, you can email us at ArtsDays@gov.ab.ca. In order to post your event to this page, we'll require the following information:

  • Event name
  • Event description (max 250 characters)
  • Event start date
  • Event start time
  • Venue
  • City and address
  • Website
  • Is there a cost for your event?
  • Event contact for more info (name/phone number/email)

Please keep in mind that this information is being collected to promote local events celebrating Alberta Arts Days and to provide a contact for the public for more information regarding the event.

Here are some events already being planned for Arts Days 2009:

Calgary

As one of the five Flagship Celebration Sites, the EPCOR CENTRE salutes the cultural heart of its city as resident arts groups and other cultural groups bring the CENTRE to life with a festival. Saturday will feature an open house, fair and arts market including showcase performances and interactive workshops. The evening will offer a free, family-friendly concert in the Jack Singer Concert Hall including music, dance and theatre performances. On Friday, the CENTRE's Arts Learning & Creative City Programming's One Day Arts School, will host education activities. More information to come.

Edmonton

As one of the five Flagship Celebration Sites, engaging the campus community and families will be the focus during daytime celebrations with an evening performance at the Myer Horowitz Theatre that will be sure to attract the pop and alternative music crowds. More information to come.

Fort McMurray

As one of the five Flagship Celebration Sites, Keyano Theatre will spotlight emerging Alberta artists, including emerging Aboriginal artists to showcase to the community Northern Alberta's unique cultural mosaic. More information to come.

Grande Prairie

Centre for Creative Arts Gala

Friday, September 19th
This event will be a celebration of arts in many forms featuring visual art, music and performance. It will include a wearable arts runway show, music, dancers, a separate gallery show with a silent auction and a whole night of fun! More info to come www.creativecentre.ca

Medicine Hat

As one of the five Flagship Celebration Sites, the Esplanade will celebrate the partnership of arts and culture and the larger community through daytime activities that will include an Artisan Fair on the front grounds of the Esplanade, an artist guided exhibition tour at the Esplanade Art Gallery and a variety of arts workshops and demonstrations hosted by the Esplanade's educational Discovery Centre. The evening will feature a dynamic and ethereal musical arts experience in the lobbies. More information to come.

Olds

As one of the five Flagship Celebration Sites, Olds will celebrate the contribution of rural artists, and the role of cultural experiences in building a strong community with arts workshops, video conferencing, performances and more. More information to come.

Sherwood Park

An Artist's Eye on Ireland

Artist Patrick Lamb (Paddy) will share his experience and impressions of the land and people of Western Ireland. His artist's stay at Ballycastle, Mayo has brought many inspirations and artist expressions. Come and see the pictures and hear the stories.

Free passes at the Strathcona County Library Information Desk.
