Join the celebration! Get your school involved in Alberta Arts Days.
Celebrating the arts doesn’t mean organizing a high-scale production. Here are a few ideas for the classroom to get you started:
- engage students in a discussion about their artistic works in progress;
- celebrate Alberta Arts Days with a dance or creative movement activity;
- invite a local artist from the community to discuss the arts with students;
- research careers in design and how the skills of the arts apply to the careers;
- take a field trip and experience the arts first-hand;
- take part in a battle of the bands or talent show; and/or
- experiment with technology to create a unique artistic statement.
Additional event ideas and planning tips can be found within the Resource section.
Once you’ve decided on your classroom’s involvement,
- send a short overview of your event or activity to albertaartsdays@gov.ab.ca and you'll be included in the School Involvement listings.
- share your experience with others by uploading photos to the Alberta Arts Days Arts Days Flickr Group pool.
And don't forget to attend events in your community throughout the Alberta Arts Days weekend!
