Planning

Two members of the Alberta Community Development team facilitate a historical scan in order to inform the group's efforts to envision and plan for future development.

One of the most important tasks for any organization, group or community—often the most forgotten or delayed—is proper planning. Whether it's a three year, three month or a three day plan, without a clear idea of what you're trying to achieve or what you want to focus on, your efforts are often disorganized and less impactful or efficient as they could be.

In addition, proper planning gives your organization the tools they need to be adaptive and responsive to the constant changes in funding, client needs, staffing, technology and society.

The best plans are formed when the diverse ideas and perspectives of Board members, staff, stakeholders and public are considered.

The Community Development facilitators work with you to design and deliver inclusive sessions that may include and are not limited to:

  • Reflecting on and considering factors affecting your group and work
  • Understanding and articulating mission, vision and values
  • Identifying relevant and adaptive strategies to guide your work
