Franco-Albertans contribute to the francophone community and the social, cultural and economic well-being of Alberta. With Francophone communities established all
over Alberta, various organizations promote French language and cultures through different events.
There are francophone activities in all communities throughout the year, including the annual provincial gathering, the
Fête franco-albertaine. For information on these events, visit

Les Rendez-vous de la Francophonie:
March 2 - 22, 2017
Alberta celebrates the international day of the Francophonie all month long with activities starting with Franco-Albertan
flag raising ceremonies on March 3.
The Legislature building, various communities and a number of Alberta organizations take part in these celebrations. A variety of events are planned each year.
Whether you speak French at home or at school, or if you enjoy learning about another culture, these events are for everyone.
The international day of the Francophonie is celebrated annually on March 20 in more than 50 countries around the world. Here in Canada, close to ten million Francophones will get
together for the Rendez vous de la Francophonie, a two-week celebration of French cultures and history. This year, celebrations of the 19th annual Rendez-vous de la
Francophonie will be themed "La Francophonie in 3D: Diversity, Duality, and Dynamism!" emphasizing new dimensions of the Francophonie.
