Alberta-Heilongjiang 30th Anniversary Winter Festival

January 13, 2012 From January 12 to 22 the Alberta Legislature Grounds hosted the Government of Alberta's 30th Anniversary celebration of the twinning of Alberta and Heilongjiang, China. In addition to beautiful ice and snow sculptures by master carvers from Heilongjiang, the heated Alberta House tent spotlighted some of Alberta's best cultural performers. There was public skating, hot chocolate and High Level Streetcar rides to the Ice on Whyte festival. |

December 5, 2011 Six Albertans have been recognized as every day heroes for their outstanding volunteer efforts. Jamil Jivraj of Edmonton, Stephen McPhee of Airdrie, Daryl Bonar of Edmonton, Lynda Johnson of Hinton, Gareth Jones of St. Albert and Clem Kuelker of Didsbury have each received a 2011 Stars of Alberta Volunteer Award for their work in their communities. |

December 2, 2011 Donations to registered charities can earn you a tax break and help charities do important work - but they don't stop there. They can go one step further by allowing charities to apply for donation grants from the Community Spirit Program.
