Artist Talk: Illuminating the Diary of Alda Dale Randall

Join artist and former archivist Marlena Wyman as she shares her inspiration and creative process for her current exhibit at the Provincial Archives of Alberta.

In her art practice, Wyman honours early prairie women's contributions to Canada's narrative, advocates for their rightful place in history, and encourages women to deposit their records in archives.

Her current exhibit is inspired by the 1920 diary of Alberta homesteader Alda Dale Randall, held in the collection of the Provincial Archives of Alberta.

The artist's talk will be followed by an opportunity to view the exhibit and the original diary.

  • Art supplies will be provided but you may also bring your own (no paints please)
  • Minimum age for workshop is 16

February 2, 2016 – August 20, 2016

The exhibit of artist, former archivist and third generation prairie woman Marlena Wyman is inspired by the 1920 diary of Alberta homesteader Alda Dale Randall, held in the collection of the Provincial Archives of Alberta. In her art practice, Wyman honours early prairie women and sheds light on their contributions that are often hidden in the shadows of the western settlement story. This exhibit will be on display from February 2, 2016 to August 20, 2016.

Exhibition hours are Tuesday to Saturday 9am to 4:30pm and Wednesday until 9pm.
